I BOUGHT it in August 2015 pretty much standard, with a twoinch EFS lift and 52-inch LED bar. Iíve since had ARB Capalaba fit an ARB deluxe bar, brush bars, side-steps, awning, compressor, rear locker, REDARC dual battery and a Smittybilt X20 10,000lb winch. In the back, an Evakool 47-litre fridge keeps the beer cold.
JCM Mechanical & 4X4 recently gave the 4.5 a good sorting out, so Iíve got plenty of power to go anywhere on 16x8in Dynamic steelies wrapped in Goodyear 285/75 DuraTracs, thanks to Tim Penfold. I spend a lot of time on North Stradbroke living the beach life. The rest of my spare time Iím out wheeliní with the guys and girls in the Gold Coast Camping & 4WD Group. Best time in the 80 so far is out at The Springs 4x4 Park near Warwick.
THIS RUBICON was the first in the country with a 1/1/2016 compliance plate, which is cool. It went straight from the dealer to On Track 4X4 at Slacks Creek for a 4.5-inch lift and 35-inch Trail Hogs on 17x9 Tuffs wheels. Front and rear bars are Poison Spyder from the USA. It has a Tom Woodís front-driveshaft and Evo body armour. Best place Iíve gone so far has to be The Springs 4x4 Park out past Warwick, where I went up Beer OíClock Hill over the Easter long weekend.
IíVE HAD it for about eight years. Originally a TB42, I built it up to a big, pricy TD42 with custom 11mm pump which runs 25psi boost. Iím yet to dyno, as the motor has only 10,000km on it. All suspension arms upgraded, and it has front and rear air lockers. Itís got a 5-inch lift and runs 35-inch TTC Claws.
Features include a high-mount Warn, winch rebuilt diffs and a Ti interior. Rig is in very good condition. Used for the Vic High Country and towing our Jayco camper.
TO FEATURE your 4x4 here, snap a photo of it when itís off on an adventure and send it via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org, or post it to our Facebook page (@4x4aus). If we really like it, you might even see it on the cover of 4X4 Australia!
Purchased it new. Itís got an ARB bullbar, 50mm lift kit to the front, Smittybilt winch, TJM Snorkel, GME UHF, Rhino lining in the tub, custom tonneau, ERPS rust proofing, Engel dualbattery system, Rhino roof rack system, and ARB high-intensity lights. Best places Iíve taken it include North Point, Yellow Patch, Eastern Beach, Fraser Island, Straddie, Gordon Country, Carnarvon Gorge, Longreach and the inner Western suburbs of Brisbane (school drop-offs).
Itís got pretty standard mods including a bar, winch, light bars front and back, snorkel, breathers, OME 50mm lift, awning, fishing rod storage, and a UHF. I stripped out the rear end and built partitions for storage and a fridge slide for a 65-litre Waeco. An ArkPak dual-battery system is removable. I built it for chasing fish up the east coast. Took it to Cape York and I canít fault it. Also took it off-road along the Wenlock River to remote billabongs.
Iíve had it since new. It has EFS Enforcer Suspension, Ironman dual battery system, on-board air with 10-litre tank, Big Red compressor front, rear diff breathers, 12,000lb winch, home-made rear wheel carrier, roof console, 80-channel UHF, and homemade drawers in the rear with custom tilt fridge slide.
Iíve taken it to a lot of places, but the Vic High Country would have to be the best. I donít think you can get a better view than from the top of Blue Rag!
