THE VL Director was the car Brock wanted to take to the world as a rival for BMW, Mercedes-Benz and more. It was the first Holden with an independent rear suspension system and featured major body panel changes to differentiate it from the Calais it was based on.

In the end the VL Director didnít even make it to volume production, with just a dozen examples built.

That VL ultimately led to the split between Brock and Holden, a split that saw him race everything from a Ford and BMW to a Peugeot and Volvo. He also turned his hand to importing and tuning Russian-made Ladas.
