THE SQ7 TDI, revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, is set to take the new SUVís power potential to 320kW and 900Nm, thanks to the use of a twin-turbo 4.0-litre diesel V8 and an electric compressor. The electricmotor- driven compressor is powered by a bootmounted 48V lithium-ion battery and is a first for a mass-produced car. Instant spool is its biggest benefit, helping the SQ7 hurry to 100km/h in 4.8sec before reaching a limited top speed of 250km/h. The diesel SUV will also sip 7.4 litres of diesel per 100km. Expect it to land for around $160K before the end of 2016.
