TOYOTA HAS unveiled the biggest tweaks to its 86 sports car since its 2012 introduction at the recent New York Motor Show.
Due to go on sale in Australia in the latter part of 2016, the headline news is an extra 4kW/9Nm from the 2.0-litre flat-four engine, taking totals to 151kW/214Nm, while an alteration to the final drive brings “additional performance”.
Other mechanical changes include a revision of damper and spring rates, though whether they’ve become firmer or softer was not clear as we went to press.
Visually the car is more aggressive, with a larger grille, new alloy wheels, revised bumper and headlights and redesigned fog lamp bezels at the front and a new bumper at the rear.
