HONDA HINTS AT NSX TYPE R

HONDA IS considering an NSX Type R with the carís development team revealing how it would go about a stove-hot version.

Nick Robinson, Dynamic Development Leader of the NSX, told Autocar a more focused version of its new supercar would prioritise weight loss, with lightweight panels and the removal of the hybrid system cutting back its current 1725kg bulk.

Deleting the hybrid system would convert the NSX to rear-wheel drive and reduce power, however with 375kW from its 3.5-litre twinturbo V6 it would still be a formidable foe for the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3.

SEINFELD SELLS PORSCHE STASH

ONE OF the highlights of the recent Amelia Island auction was a number of extremely rare and valuable Porsches from the collection of comedian Jerry Seinfeld. All up the sale netted Seinfeld over US$22m, the top seller being a beautiful blue 550 Spyder which brought home US$5.34m. Other notable results include a 917/30 Can Am (pictured), one of the most powerful race cars ever built, which sold for US$3m, a rare 718 RSK (US$2.86m) and a 911 3.0 IROC driven by former F1 and Indy driver Peter Revson which sold for US$2.31m.
