I THINK daytime running lights are a great development. However, the problem with them is that some people think the headlights are on, when it’s just the DRLs.
They work best in the rain and to reveal cars of a more muted colour. But to a similar effect, why haven’t carmakers developed a system that turns on parkers and wipers for cars without DRLs? It would make these cars much more visible.
Driver education has been lacking for years, and when policing focuses solely on revenue raising, we need to implement safety tech through Australian Design Rules more than ever.
