Fancy 300km at 300km/h?

Okay, maybe not, but thatís the distance Northern Territorians can now travel with derestricted speed. A further 60km of the Stuart Highwayís 130km/h speed limitís been abolished along the northbound section between Alice Springs and Ali Curung. The move complements a $3m road upgrade, while NT chief minister Adam Giles hopes to eventually free the entire 1100km stretch of road north to Katherine of speed limits.

Since limits were lifted in early 2014 no speed-related fatalities have been recorded.
