Aston’s P1 fighter

Newey’s hypercar breaks cover

ITS full name is Aston Martin-Red Bull 001, but to its two developmentpartner families, the AM-RB is one mighty British pot-shot at Italy’s LaFerrari and Germany’s Porsche 918 Spyder hypercars.

Apparently, it is production ready.

AM did the styling and one of its screaming V12 engines will be midmounted to mate with unspecified hybrid assistance to deliver a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio (the latter below 1000kg). The transmission hasn’t yet been detailed either.

Red Bull Racing’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey designed the aero, (carbonfibre) body construction and suspension that is aimed at both usability and sharpness on the track.

Expect a 2.5sec 0-100km/h, but we await confirmation and (many) further details ahead of this 175-unit limited edition’s 2018 production, including a pricetag tipped to be between the range of £2m and £3m (AU$3.5m and AU$5.2m).
