Thanks to MOTOR for your great Holden retrospective in the October issue. I have a Euro V8 two-door, but prior to it I had an Aussie V8 two-door – the mighty Monaro.

I was recently in New Zealand and our rental was a Holden Commodore SV6. It handled everything superbly over 2200km in eight days.

If I needed four doors and five seats for my daily drive I would have a Commodore in an instant. The thought of people preferring an SUV rather than this great example of Australian engineering and manufacturing is sad indeed, particularly when the ‘Sport’ in SUV must be intended as parody.
