TO COMMEMORATE the 50-year anniversary of the Ford Escort nameplate and to farewell the current-generation Focus RS, Ford UK is offering 50 Heritage Edition models. Problem is, the UK is the only market where they’ll be available. The retina-scorching Deep Orange paint is the most obvious difference, but there’s also a Mountune power upgrade fitted as standard, bringing outputs to 276kW/510Nm, a useful increase over the standard car’s 257kW/440Nm and all backed by the factory warranty. In addition, all 50 Heritage Editions benefit from the Quaife limited-slip front differential, lightweight forged alloys and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tyres fitted as part of the Limited Edition models. Given the extra grunt and limited run, the 10 per cent price premium seems pretty good value.
