THE Sydney car scene lost a talented craftsman and a skilled burnout pilot with the passing of Nathan Allen of Elite Fabrications in late November. Nathan’s handiwork graced many Street Machine feature and cover cars, including the stunning engine bay of Dominic Occhiuto’s LJ Torana (SM, Sep ’09), Mick Brasher’s Corolla, Rodney Waters’s HQ KRANKY and many others. Nathan’s own VK made the cover of the April 2009 SM, as well as the cover of the Summernats 23 magazine. The VK was later replaced by a KE10 Corolla, which was powered by a monster 1000hp blown LS combo.

OUR next giveaway car is well underway and the competition will open next issue. This Torry will run a tough-but-streetable 355 Holden V8, topped by a Quick Fuel EFI set-up thanks to the folks at Automotive Performance Distributors. The donk will be backed by a TH350 from BBE Auto, with a McDonald Bros nine-inch diff out back. The whole thing is slathered in a super-punchy orange duco and will be one hell of a nice thing! You’ll be able to check the car out on our stand at Street Machine Summernats.

FEBRUARY contains our massive coverage of Street Machine Summernats 29, as well as a bunch of other cool events, including Tread Cemetery, the Australian Pro Street Association finals from Sydney Dragway, and Mooneyes in Yokohama. And while we didn’t manage to jam a Mopar in this issue (though our People Like Us subject on page 14 drives a sweet turbo V8 Centura), next issue we come roaring back into Chrysler town with a killer road-and-track ’66 Barracuda. Other features include the world’s coolest VH Vacationer, Emanuel Darmanin’s Coyote-powered Mustang and the latest builds from Ryan Carter of Street Machine Expression Session fame. On sale January 28, and in the meantime, keep an eye on streetmachine.com. au for all the latest, including daily updates from Summernats 29.
