Tell us in one line how to describe your business.

Manufacturer of quality hi-performance headers to suit the current performance car market and including a growing and very comprehensive back catalogue of hiperformance headers to suit our favourite classics over the past 50 years, along with performance systems to suit the most popular V8 car market from 2000 on and also for the now popular turbo diesel market known as our “King Brown”® 4x4 range.

Tell us in one line how to describe your business.

Pacemaker Headers is one of Australia’s oldest header manufacturers, continuing to produce high quality headers in Australia today.

What is the History of your business?

Pacemaker’s roots go back almost 40 years in the western suburbs of Adelaide, where custom fabrication was the only option for big pipes and high horsepower. Many of these custom headers were cleverly developed into prototypes that then became production versions, a few of which are still produced, forming the back bone of Pacemakers current catalogue.

How many people do you employee in Australia?

Pacemaker currently employs around 25 people directly at our Pacemaker manufacturing facility in Adelaide, and perhaps another 20-30 indirectly across Australia and New Zealand through other business interests.

What would you say is your niche?

Our niche is our strong brand. When people purchase a set of “Pacies”, they know that they are buying a piece of Australian automotive performance heritage.

What is your company’s best-selling product?

While the VE/VF Commodore continues to leave an amazing legacy in this country not only for aftermarket sales right now, but this series of Commodore is also destined to provide the potential of strong future sales for many years to come, and well past the demise of the Australian automotive industry, which to date still makes up a fair proportion of our overall sales however our “King Brown”® 4x4 range has seen the biggest growth over past 3 or 4 years as a lot of people begin to transition from their V8 Utes and sedans and into D-max, Hi-lux and Rangers, etc. And as this trend continues to grow, Pacemaker expects to build an even bigger and stronger catalogue around this popular trend towards 4x4 vehicles.

What are you currently developing?

The all-new 2016 Mustang which include both 1 ¾” and 1 7/8” 4 into 1 headers with complete matching systems in 2 ½” and 3”, along with 1 5/8: and 1/¾” primary sized 4 into 1 headers to suit the XP model Falcon with a Windsor 289-302 V8 and also headers and 3”system to suit the all-new Y62 V8 Nissan Patrol. All of which are due in the second half of 2016

Do you collaborate with other Australian businesses?

Yes, in fact Pacemaker has a long and rich history of working in with some well-known tuning houses along with aftermarket parts manufactures such as Castlemaine rod shop (currently front cross member for the XP V8 for example) and Tuff Mounts etc.to name a few to ensure that we have the very latest and best information at our fingers tips. It is this level of support from our friends from these other great Aussie companies that we have managed to forge over many years that also gives our product range the go to product for some of their aftermarket parts as well.

How much do you export overseas?

Pacemaker has a growing international customer base which has led to daily sales; however the world aftermarket is huge and it has always been our focus to grow this part of Pacemaker well into the future.

What achievement or product are you most proud of?

Everyone at Pacemaker is very proud of our long tradition of total commitment to innovation and design and manufacturing that ensures that only the very best Pacemaker products are made available to our customers which of course, are made right here in Australia. In a time when Australian manufacturing has been challenged and when parts have been cheapened by cheap overseas imports and knock offs, our greatest achievement has been to maintain our high standards which have been set over many decades.

Further comments that you believe are of interest to our readers.

At Pacemaker, we understand that most customers have come to expect the very best in design and workmanship from their performance exhaust purchase, and it is this attention to detail that has driven everyone at Pacemaker to deliver only the best products currently available from not only past experience, but also through design and innovative manufacturing techniques continuously being developed for the future.
