GEORGE WEBER 1968 HK GTS MONARO

ďELEVEN years ago l purchased this car from a guy called Shane, who used to run it at Willowbank drags. Initially I drove the car as I bought it, tidying a few things on the way, until I had a slight mishap in the garage. So I decided to give the car a freshen-up and had my mate Mick clean up the engine bay. While the engine was out, Colour Smart at Yatala was given the task of paint and panel. It was painted in Monte Carlo Blue Pearl with GTS stripes. The engine is a fairly tame 400ci SBC with a Turbo 400 gearbox running to a nine-inch diff with Truetrac and 3.7 gears. Brakes are HQ (front) and Commodore (rear), and the rims are American Racing 18x7 and 20x9.5. COREY CONDELLO 1997 FORD XR6 FALCON UTE

ďTHIS is my XH XR6 ute; itís an early-í97 factory five-speed manual, but I have changed the nose to a late- 1997/98 version. I picked it up for $600. It was pretty run-down, with different-colour panels as it had been involved in a light accident earlier in its life. The guy I bought it off picked it up in WA just to have something to drive back to Victoria. With the help of my dad we got it looking good with a fresh lick of paint. Itís not a big-dollar car, but I love it! I havenít even got my learnerís yet; I canít wait to start driving it.Ē

SALLY GILL 1965 CHEVY IMPALA

ďIíVE owned my 1965 Chevy Impala for 22 years. Itís a 327/ Powerglide car with only 97,000 miles on the clock, and is my daily driver. It has been an Adelaide car all its life. My partner and I are putting in a big-block 427 and Powerglide combo in the car soon.

We enjoy going on the American car cruises around Adelaide.Ē

WILLIAM DURCAN 2009 HOLDEN VE SS UTE

ďHERE is my daily. Itís a 2009 VE SS ute that Iíve owned for three years and done a few things to. It has a full three-inch twin-system in stainless-steel, high-flow cats, extractors, a big cam, coil-overs, 19-inch rims and a cold-air intake. DAVE CASSAR 1978 HZ HOLDEN KINGSWOOD

ďTHIS is my 1978 HZ Kingswood. My dad had one of these when I was growing up so I thought it would be cool to get one myself. It has taken many years to get to this stage; it has a custom interior, the paint colour is from the new Colorado, and itís powered by an L77 6.0L V8 and 6L80 six-speed auto from a VF Commodore. It has a nine-inch rear end with 3.7 gears, a Truetrac LSD and 31-spline axles. Itís running Commodore disc brakes all íround and all the suspension has been rebuilt and upgraded. The engine is completely standard with the exception of an engine-back exhaust and an intake. Everything on the car is engineered and legal. In its current form it has run a 12.31 at Calder Park.Ē

CAIN DAWES 1972 FORD XA FALCON

ďI PURCHASED this XA from a mate four years ago; heíd had it for about 15 years. It was in pieces being painted the first time I saw it. It runs a 351 Clevo, Top Loader, nine-inch, twin three-inch exhaust and Weld racing wheels. It has seen some drag and burnout action, even a car show.

My plans are to cruise it as is for now and give it a freshen-up in a few years.Ē

NATHAN CAMILLERI 1984 FORD XE FALCON

ďTHIS is my 1984 XE Falcon, running a 250 crossflow. Itís completely original. I bought the car when I was 16. My dad and I saw it at a scrap-metal place in Melton and I was looking for an XD/XE at the time so I had to ask if it was for sale. I ended up getting it for $350. I spent the weekends taking the seat covers off and polishing the car up and it came out amazing; we didnít have to do anything to it. After I got it running, I lowered it and added some wheels and a few other bits and pieces. I have owned the car for four years now and itís just a weekend cruiser.

One day Iíll probably put a 351 Cleveland in it.Ē
