OUR COLLEAGUES over at Wheels have been working their contact books hard and have unearthed something we couldn’t resist sharing with you guys – the return of the Director. Yep, the badge that hasn’t been seen since Peter Perfect started confusing the heck out of most of us with his Energy Polarizer is back, this time attached to the pert rear end of a version of the VFII Calais. Holden registered the Director name with IP Australia back in 2014 and it was accepted in January of this year.

Ostensibly a special edition model, the Director gets unique 20-inch alloys, a subtle rear lip spoiler, beefier Brembo brakes and a tweaked version of HSV’s Magnetic Ride Control. Who’d have thought that we’d see another Director with magnetically-aligned molecules? Truth really is stranger than fiction. The 6.2-litre LS3 lump is likely to be left unchanged which means 304kW and 570Nm driving through a six-speed auto box.

It’s reported that just a few hundred will be built and the interiors will feature unique stitching, and a numbered identifier to go with a certificate of authenticity. Wheels expects prices to be pitched somewhere just north of $60,000, so if you’d like one, you’ll need to get saving and register your interest pronto.
