BONHAMS is auctioning an eclectic assortment of 24 vehicles from the private collection of the late Carroll Shelby, dating as far back as a 1927 Ford Model T.

A selection of Cobras and Mustangs showcases his extensive collaboration with Ford.

Several models fettled by Shelby for the Chrysler corporation are also up for grabs such as the Charger GSLH, CSX and Shelby Dakota pickup.

There's a 1969 Shelby GT 500 that he acquired from actor Jackie Cooper Jr, chassis 0001 of Shelby’s own supercar built in 1999, the Shelby 1 Series and a 2011 Shelby Cobra CSX 8027 (his personal transport) as well as one of his CSX 8000-series modern Cobras.

There is also a 1935 Chrysler Airflow Sedan, believed to have been acquired from Steve McQueen, and the 1982 Dodge Shelby Charger prototype – the first collaboration between Shelby and Dodge that led to the creation of the Viper.

Michael Caimano, Bonhams Motoring Specialist added, “Carroll Shelby is synonymous with American racing and performance vehicles and his contribution to the motoring world is priceless. What a privilege it is to represent many of his personal cars.”

Eric Minoff, Bonhams Head of Sale for Greenwich said, “We’re honoured to have been chosen to represent the legendary cars of the legendary man.”

The Concours d’Elegance Auction is set for Sunday June 3, in Greenwich, Connecticut.
