WORTH NOTING

WORTH NOTING is the incredible string of wins for Melbourne-based restorers Re-Creation Automotive. Owners Peter van der Sluys and Alastair Taylor won the 2018 Restoration of the Year, its third major gong in three years.

In 2016 they took out the overall Concours award with Terry Smart’s 1969 Holden Monaro GTS 350 – a hugely controversial win for a locally-made car. Then in 2017 they took 'Restoration of the Year' with another Smartowned car, a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5.

This time they scored the restoration gong, as well as the award for ‘Modern Classic Sports & Performance Over 3 Litre’, with the Barry Edge 1969 Maserati Ghibli Spyder. That’s quite a record.
