THAT Sports Car World title (HO Down the Hume, Classic Wheels, September) may be long-departed, but the legendary status appropriated to the Ford product from that photo will endure forever.
In a similar vein, Bill Tuckey once mentioned that Ford’s advertisement after the 1969 Bathurst 500 tyre debacle (right) regained all the kudos the company had lost that day.
Anyway, I was prompted to
extract the copy of the SCW magazine from my archives and, like all gripping yarns, I found myself engrossed in that Hume escapade all over again.
