DUMB KEY

How is the keyless remote an improvement over a key inserted in the steering column?

THE problem with progress is that some of it clearly isn’t progress at all. How is the keyless remote an improvement over a key inserted in the steering column?

Firstly, where to put it?

How many times have I exited the vehicle realising it’s still inside? How many times have I exited with the damn engine still running? Once during a particularly monsoonal downpour, I jumped out, leapt onto the footpath to seek cover of a shop awning, only to realise the car was still running. And nothing on the remote stops the engine. Another time, I did a whole week’s grocery shop and returned to my car, parked in the main street, unlocked and still running! Never happened with an inserted ignition key.

Progress… seriously? Bring back the proper key!
