1000hp AMG confirmed

Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers has confirmed the company will build the R50 hypercar (Redline, November) utilising componentry from the Mercedes- AMG W07 F1 car. That means a 1.6-litre 90-degree V6 engine using the same turbo and energy recovery systems. Removing the packaging restraints of an F1 car should allow for larger batteries for more oomph. Any alterations to the power unit which will run through a four-wheel-drive system will be done for improved reliability and to meet regulations. Moers said: [In F1] we run the engine to maybe 15,000rpm; maybe we reduce that a little bit, but still five digits.
