My first performance V8 was a HDT VK SS Brock Commodore, number plate SS3172 (the car’s build number).

Although only an SS, it was built with the running gear from the Group A, the 4.9-litre engine, five-speed Borg-Warner T5 manual transmission and full stainless steel exhaust! An amazing vehicle, it was sold after five theft attempts – specialist insurers were the only option and out of our price range at the time. The other reason we sold it? I was having my fourth baby and needed a bigger car.
