Friday, October 20, 2017 marked a very sad day in Australian history as the last ever Australianmade cars came off the production line. This was a truly sad day for all Australians as this country will never be the same again. We should be proud of the quality of cars manufactured since the very first Holden ran off the line in the 1940s.
The closure of this industry weakens our country in many ways and for this I am truly saddened. The days of waiting and anticipating the next Falcon, Commodore and other locally made cars is gone and with it a big part of our proud Australian identity. We are all poorer for this and although we will all move on, it is time to reflect on this proud history of Australian motoring. To all those that have worked in this industry, thank you for your contribution. Your legacy will live on in our hearts and memories.
