Shuttle cock-up

A self-driving shuttle similar to ones being trialled in Melbourne and Perth has been involved in an accident in Las Vegas less than an hour after it hit the streets. The shuttle was struck by a reversing truck; no one was hurt. A City of Las Vegas representative claimed the shuttle “did what it was supposed to do, in that its sensors registered the truck and the shuttle stopped to avoid the accident.” The statement went on to point out that “had the truck had the same sensing equipment that the shuttle has, the accident would have been avoided.”
